How do I become a member of the PPBAM?

What geographic area does the PPBAM cover?


The PPBAM covers the Province of Manitoba and Northern Ontario West of Thunder Bay.

Does the PPBAM have general meetings for its membership?


The PPBAM does have two General meetings, and encourages its membership to attend. The meetings are held in the spring and fall. Please check back to get the exact dates.

What are the minimum requirements for a band to compete within the PPBAM?


The minimum number of players required by bands when competing in a full band contest recognized and approved by the PPBAM is:

Grade 1 : 8 pipers, 3 side drummers, and 1 bass drummer
Grade 2 : 6 pipers, 2 side drummers, and 1 bass drummer
Grade 3 : 6 pipers, 2 side drummers, and 1 bass drummer
Grade 4 : 5 pipers, 2 side drummers, and 1 bass drummer
Grade 5 : 5 pipers, 2 side drummers, and 1 bass drummer

Who is eligible for Champion Supreme Awards?


Only those results from contests and events sanctioned by the PPBAM shall be used to determine the Champion Supreme in each band grade and in each solo piping, drumming, and Piobaireachd grades. The results shall be included to six places where possible. The point system shall be

1st = 6 points
2nd = 4 points
3rd = 2 points
4th = 1 point
5th = 1 point
6th = 1 point
